Introduced in United Kingdom by Treasures of Tenbury in 1987 as 'Royalty'.
Introduced in United States by Donahue's Clematis Specialists in 1995 as 'Royalty'.
Class:
Early Large Flowered.  
Bloom:
Mauve, darker veining, lighter center.  Average diameter 6".  Single, double bloom form.  Late spring to early summer, early autumn.  
Habit:

Height: 6' to 8' (185 to 245cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Best in a sunny location.  sheltered.  Suitable for growing in a container.  It blooms on the previous year's growth, so resist the urge to prune it in early spring.
