Bred by Samuel Davidson McGredy III (United Kingdom, before 1926).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Samuel McGredy and Son, Nurserymen (Northern Ireland) in 1931 as 'Portadown Fragrance'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1932 as 'Portadown Fragrance'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Orange-pink.  Coppery buds. Carmine or warm cerise, shaded gold, with orange base, Broad petals.  Strong, old rose fragrance.  60 to 70 petals.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, flat, high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  

Short, spreading, well-branched.  Bronze-green foliage.  

Height: 1' (30cm).  

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for container rose, exhibition or garden.  Rain tolerant.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot , mildew resistant.  

Borne on dark red, stiff stems with black thorns, this rose was said to have dark, olive-green or reddy-green, bronzy foliage. Buds were said to be long - and short! Perfume was said to be verbena-scented, old-rose and fruit (nectarine).
