Schedule of Events
Friday October 20:
Free Mixer from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. Food and non-alcoholic beverages provided at no charge. Please RSVP to Susan Morse by October 6, so that we can provide adequate quantities of refreshments. Visit with kindred spirits and fellow rose lovers! There will be a brief presentation explaining our current organizational structure, outline upcoming 2018 meetings (workshops for hands on rooting in April/May and budding in August) and allow for those in attendance to become informed about and offer suggestions for new projects in 2018.
Saturday October 21:
Power Point presentations from notable rosarians featuring rose varieties offered in the auction. Lectures take place between 1PM - 6PM. Audience participation and questions are encouraged. Bids may be made on SILENT AUCTION plants all afternoon if desired. SILENT AUCTION bids continue on Sunday morning.
Dinner with the Speakers:
This year we will be having dinner at 7 PM at Green Dragon Tavern and Museum (6115 Paseo del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92011). This is about 10 miles from QLN by Freeway, located just SOUTH of the Flower Fields (which is accessed from Palomar Airport Road) and directly across the street from both Pacific Sales and Tip Top Meats. Accommodations made for separate checks (a 20% service fee added as tip). Text, at (858) 663-5536 or email Dwyn Daniels Robbie to reserve a space. Send Dwyn your choices for seating with a particular speaker John Bagnasco, Ping Lim, Bob Martin, Jill Perry, or mention No Preference. Dwyn will attempt to match each diner with their first choice on a first come first served basis. The last date to join up is October 10th.
Sunday October 22:
SILENT Auction continues from 9:00 AM to Noon
LIVE Auction 1:30-3:30 PM. The LIVE Auction is conducted by Popular auctioneer Bryan Main and John Bagnasco where John does a Power Point presentation of the most RARE/UNUSUAL plants offered.
Bidders may choose to be provided with a list of plants they have won prior to the LIVE Auction if they make a request to the Head Cashier prior to lunch. Lunch recess is 90 minutes. Please be on time for the start of the LIVE Auction. Attendees who must leave, can pay for their winnings prior to the start of the LIVE Auction or during the LIVE Auction at any time they have finished their bidding. Payment can be via cash, check or credit card.
Off Site Bidding:
Off site bids may be made. Here is a brief explanation of the e-mail bidding process:
E-mail Bidding will open on October 1 and close precisely at noon October 20th.
You may bid on as many plants as you wish by indicating the highest bid you wish to place on each plant. The amounts will differ for each.
CCRS Members will act as your Proxy at the October 22nd Auction. They will make every attempt to obtain each plant for you at the LOWEST possible price. In NO INSTANCE will they bid more than the highest bid you have indicated for that plant to the webmaster.
Minimum bid raise in all portions of the Auction is $1.
The webmaster must respond to you via e-mail CONFIRMING RECEIPT of your bid in order for your bid to be properly registered
The webmaster will notify you of winning bids and the amount that you have spent at the Auction.
Winning Bidders will be responsible for ALL shipping charges in addition to the cost of the plant. Shipping charges are the least costly IMMEDIATELY after the Auction. However, if you live in an area with inclement weather, CCRS members will overwinter your plant at no additional charge until Spring 2018. YOU must notify the webmaster well in advance of when you would like your overwintered plants shipped to you in Spring 2018.
