I have and love this rose. I just posted some photos. I am always stunned at the fact that I grew this one when I cut it and put it in a vase. It is so perfect. I am looking for another red rose that would do well in NH. I prefer one that I can cut and has some fragrance. I will get another one of these if I don't find anything else, but I prefer a variety of plants.

I completely agree. I've lived in MI, SC and NC and this rose just flourishes. In fact, the plant in my backyard has hit the 6-foot mark at year 3 in SC/NC and (a different actual plant) did the same thing in Michigan. My dad was a big Chrysler Imperial guy, but I truly believe there is no more beautiful red rose than Veteran's Honor - it's rare to find such a pure red (Mr. Lincoln, Oklahoma, CI...don't have it) and such a wonderfuly fragrance. My husband (who couldn't give 2 figs about my roses) wishes I would just plant VH because it is so amazing.

This one looks like an exhibition variety, but surprise! It's easy to grow, lots of blooms. The vase life is astonishing. I'm sorry they didn't stick with the original name-- Lady In Red. This one's definitely a she-- and a glamour girl!

I agree with you! I love this rose. I'm not even sure why I got it, because it is rated as having a mild fragrance, but it's fragrance is stronger than some other roses in my garden billed as fragrant. I love the raspberry scent. This is an amazing rose.

Check out 'Women in Military', a lovely rose, tough and disease resistant.

A fitting tribute. Should be better known.

Veteran's Honor is one of my favorite roses..have been growing it in my garden for six years. The only problem I have is the stem issue! Why is it that such a perfect plant with such a perfect bloom has such a week stem? Any advice from anyone? I am calling the company I order the plant from and asking. Any ideas for solving this problem?

Hey, Tom here in Jackson, Mississippi. I had the same problem with Veteran's Honor the first 2 years I grew it. My local nursery sells an organic plant food called Rose Tone. I put in a couple of cups of this with the same amount of epsom salt in the planting hole and for the past 4 years, my stems on every variety of plant I have is perfect!! I was so proud because I was fixing to discontinue Veteran's Honor. Also, by using epsom salt, several insects and other rose enemies are eleminated. I also apply the Rose Tone mid summer around the plant and work it in..as well as dossolving epsom salt in warm water and mix it in with my Miracle Grow feedings throughout the year. VH is the perfect rose..in every way!!!!

vets honor is a great rose. High centered, great cut flower, strong thick upright canes. My VH is 2 seasons old, and because of illness in the last 2weeks i have not been able to continue with my sprayin routine, so It has a big bs problem. I have had to pull all of its bottom leaves and spray with baking soda. Bs has almost consumed the plant. however, this rose is a must have of red hybrid teas. Huge blooms, what a beauty
