I would like to know if this is a shrub or a climbing rose? we live in Texas and want to make sure that we do everything to make the roses grow correctly.

This rose has a very upright habit, with very stiff canes.Great under a window where you can view the upward facing flowers. It can be grown as a cilmber as it is very tall and vigerous. You can fan the canes out against a wall or fence and it is best at the back of a planting as it is tall and leggy. I keep mine pruned below 6' so I can see the blooms better, my neighbours perfer that I don't so they can see the blooms better. One of the altime great roses

I live in Dallas, Texas and I planted the Queen Elizabeth climbers in spring of 2001. It did not bloom that year or 2002. I didn't understant since I had such luck with the shrubs. It was worth the wait..they are magificent!!! Don't cut back the old growth..I am convinced that's why I didn't have flowers the first two years..
I want more..

I have 4 climbing Queen Elizabeths. They are 6 years old and I thread them on a chain link fence. They like water and I must spray them for black-spot about 3 times a summer.I agree that light prunning is best. One of the 4 I cut back severely last winter, and it didn't bloom at all this year. The others bloomed beatifully about 3 or 4 times this summer.

I am trying to find a climbing Queen Elizabeth or two. Can anyone tell me of a nursery/catalog from whom i can buy these plants, please? We live in Charleston, SC, USA.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and cooperation in this matter.

Regards,
Elizabeth

I was at home depot (in N.Y.) just today and they had a large amount of them. Sometimes what one store receives is the same in another. Good luck, but hurry. You know nothing lasts at that store.

I had very poor results with Queen Elizabeth in southern California. Not many blooms and no scent. I would recommend finding another rose.

QE is tall and graceful, and it looks great against a fence, or among other plants. The color is a clear pink, and it's a rose I always come back to when searching for a pink. Even when I decide to get something else for a new garden, I find myself adding this one, too, as it is a pretty and classic rose.

This site is extremely conservative when it comes to hardiness ratings. Queen Elizabeth is a popular cultivar in and around Metro-Detroit, USDA hardiness zone 5. It requires little protection here and is typically quite hardy.

I would like to find a queen elizabeth rose with a cup-shaped bloom.

Can you recommend a mail-order nursery for this rose?
