Bred by Pierre Jean Louis Roëser (France, 1834).
Introduced in France by Jean-Pierre Vibert in before 1837 as 'Comte Boula de Nanteuil'.
Introduced in Australia by Camden Park in 1850 as 'Boula de Nanteuil'.
Class:
Gallica / Provins.  
Bloom:
Crimson - purple.  Strong, damask fragrance.  Large, full (26-40 petals), flat, quartered bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:

Height: 39" to 5' (100 to 150cm).  Width: up to 3' (up to 90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 8b.  Can be used for cut flower or garden.  Prune after flowering is finished.
