I'm wondering if there are two different roses using this name. Mine has small elongated hips like those pictured on HMF, but dark red. Vintage Gardens' catalogue describes the hips as "large, round, golden-orange".

My 'Dupontii' hips are approx one inch long, elongated orange hips.

I've just been out and checked. After eleven years, neither of my two bushes are suckering. How have you managed to live without it?

I couldn't! Mine is budded, and I was thinking of putting some cuttings in for the Vic bushfire gardens. I wouldn't want to inflict suckerers on people who haven't had much contact with heritage roses before.
