Bred by Charles Mallerin (France, before 1951). Bred by Francis Meilland (1912-1958) (France, 1951).
Introduced in France by URS (Universal Rose Selection)-Meilland in 1951 as 'Tzigane'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1953 as 'Tzigane'.
Introduced in United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses) in 1955 as 'Tzigane'.

Hybrid Tea.  

Vermilion, golden-yellow reverse.  Cupped to cactus form.  Strong fragrance.  up to 45 petals.  Large, very full (41+ petals), cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  

Bushy, upright.  Glossy, bronze-green, leathery foliage.  

Height: 2' (60cm).  

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.
