Bred by Gilbert Nabonnand (1828-1903) (France, 1887).
Introduced in Australia by Standard Nursery in 1891 as 'L'Idéal'.
Class:
Noisette, Tea Noisette.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red, golden-yellow shading.  Strong fragrance.  Large, semi-double (9-16 petals) bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Climbing.  

Height: up to 10' (up to 305cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Very vigorous.
