We have this one in a spot where it gets a fair bit of shade, so it can be a bit lanky. No matter, it always puts up huge clear white blooms that smell great. Our JFK tends to flower virtually all at once. Disease does not seem to hamper it (we don't spray.) It grows and leaves up through everything. The greenish buds are also a nice touch.

In reference to John F. Kennedy rose plant: I have learned that this plant can be unpredictable. One year not so wonderful, dug it up. Because of my admiration and respect for who it is named plus I love classy white blooms, I bought another plant ( in fact two). I planted these in another location, (full sun) added good mulch and water regularly. KABOOM! Like popcorn, my bushes were full of beautiful perfectly formed roses Almost non stop! I had other roses play tis trick on me too over the years. I love this rose! Rated 10.0 on my scale and I am picky!

Overall, it gets a c+. I've grown them in Southern California , and here in Denver, and they seem to need a s.cal., climate. They just do not do well in our very hot dry climate. Even with mulching, winterizing, fertilizing, they do very poor compared to almost every other rose I've grown. We have to hope for a cooling when it is bloom or all the buds ball and turn gross brown. We are thinking of letting it go, not disease free.

The photos here are completely spot-on. This one is still around, this spring it was at all the Home Depots, Wal-Marts, Lowes'.....and I bought one in a "body bag." It sprung to life, nice basals, had a few "ok" blooms in the spring then had a fit of mildew and some blackspot (one of very few so afflicted, way at the bottom of the bell curve with resistance)......sprayed daily for several weeks, it popped back, and point is: I have 7 GORGEOUS blooms on it at this moment. Just like so many of the pictures here. No inclination to cluster, distinctive narrow foliage, pure clear white with no shade of pink or green and no moisture "spots"..............suddenly it is obvious why this one is still around..............
