Discovered by Van Kleef & Co. (Netherlands, before 1921).
Introduced in France by Eugene Turbat & Co. in 1921 as 'Lady Reading'.
Class:
Polyantha.  
Bloom:
Red.  Small, semi-double to double, in large clusters bloom form.  Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy.  Glossy, dark green foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Notes:
Sangerhausen states breeder as Van Herk.
Alice Edith Cohen (ca. 1866 - January 30, 1930), married Rufus Isaacs on December 8, 1887. She became Baroness Reading on his ennoblement in 1914 and finally Marchionness of Reading in 1926.
