Bred by Nicola Welter (Germany, 1906).
Introduced in Australia by Arthur Yates & Co. Ltd. in 1908 as 'Barbarossa'.

Bloom:
Dark red.  Moderate fragrance.  55 petals.  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  Ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Glossy foliage.

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Vigorous.
