Rud. Geschwind sent us last autumn 13 different climbers under the name „Hungarian Climbers“ to bring into commerce and thus have them tested by roselovers…
Erlkönig: Strong sort of Multiflora de la Grifferaie, with rough, thorny, strong canes, which mostly stand out horizontal and arch. Dark green foliage, almost evergreen, beautiful. Blooms in clusters. Medium size blooms, flat cup form, well double and fine form, light carmine-purple, often passing to crimson. Effectful and hardy!

Another somewhat distinct and extremely hardy group is known as the Hungarian Roses. They are mostly hybrids of R. multiflora with R. rugosa annd other hardy roses, and are credited to Geschwind of Karpona, Hungary. Representative varities are Château Luegg, Décoration de Geschwind, Gilda, Roi des Aunes, and Schneelicht.
