Photograph of 'Mrs Bryce Allan' (spelt 'Allen') from The Garden, April 29 1916, p208. SPRING SHOW OF THE NATIONAL ROSE SOCIETY NEW ROSES. Messrs. Alex. Dickson and Suns obtained a gold medal for Mrs. Bryce Allen (H.T.). which gave rise to some comment and criticism afterwards. There is this to be said: When the judges view them the blooms may be bright and good, but the exposure to warm air, and taking into consideration their long journey in many cases, they quickly lose their beauty. Mrs. Bryce Allen is deliriously fragrant, and it possesses a beautiful form and fulness, with a length of stem that will make it a grand indoor flower for cutting. The colour is a very lively Carmine rose, and we believe this variety will be a most valuable addition to our collection.

Photograph of 'Mrs Bryce Allan' from The Gardeners' Chronicle, April 22 1916, p223 Text on p226: "The Gold Medal [of the Spring show of the National Rose Society held on 14 April, 1916] was awarded to a Hybrid Tea variety named Mrs. Bryce Allan (see fig. 96), shown by Messrs. Alexander Dickson and Sons, Newtownards, who contributed the majority of the new seedlings. This beautiful and fragrant pink Rose somewhat resembles Gladys Harkness in form. It is all that can be desired, as will be seen from the illustration. The growth and foliage are very strong, and being also free in flowering the variety may be expected to prove useful in gardens as well as for exhibition."
