Origin:
Bred by Félix Guérin (France, 1828).
Introduced in France by Jean Laffay in before 1833 as 'Triomphe d'Angers'.
Introduced in Australia by Anderson and Co. in 1897 as 'Triomphe d'Angers'.
Class:
Hybrid China, Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Crimson - purple, violet shading, darker veining.  Occasional white stripes.  Moderate, fruity fragrance.  Average diameter 2.75".  Medium to large, very double, in small clusters, globular, nodding or "weak neck" bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  Rounded buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  Light green foliage.  5 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
