No elegant beauty, but it was valuable to rose breeders as a source of health and vigour. One of its seedlings was 'Pinocchio', from which came  some of the most beautiful Floribundas; and by another line, it was an ancestor of 'Baby Chateau', and therefore of 'Queen Elizabeth' and the modern geranium scarlet roses. A tough looking plant, the leaves a fair way apart, the flowers held well above them in large uneven heads, semi-double, carmine with white centres. Raised by Wilhelm Kordes from 'Robin  Hood' x  'J. C. Thornton', and introduced in 1933.
