Ramblers. Setigera. Himmelsauge (J. C. Schmidt 1895). The same excellent characteristics as [Belle de Baltimore, Beauty of the Prairies, Bijoux de Prairies, De la Grifferay, Eifel, Erinnerung an Brod], only with different coloured blooms; magnificent velvety dark red.

Setigera has quite large pink blooms, which stand in loose clusters. Her canes are very elegant, almost horizontal and daintily arching, the bloom clusters well upright. Its hybrids are good wall roses, namely on a supporting wall, in order to let the branches fall. From the older Queen of the Prairies, Feast 1834 is the most well-known, from the newer cultivars Geschwinds Himmelsauge, 1894, which is at the same time one of the darkest climbers, deep dark velvety red, and blooms only at the beginning of July.
Book  (1924)  Page(s) 71.
