E. F. Allen. Trends in Roses. ....Very important to breeders is the specialist glasshouse grower catering for the cut-flower trade. I expect that all you know 'Garnette' and its sports but it came as a surprise to me to hear last month (Mr. Jack Madder in litt.) that there are thirty-six cultivars of this type on the cut-flower market in Holland.

Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1954. Hybrid Polyantha. Garnette (Tantau, 1947). Low bushy growth with rich bronzy young foliage. The double blooms are rich red, attractive when first open but discolour badly later, quite spoiling the effect. This variety must not be confused with the H.T. ‘Granat’ or the Miniature ‘Granate’.
