Bred by Alister Clark (Australia, before 1949).
Introduced by Unknown (Australia) in 1951 as 'Mrs. Fred Danks'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Mauve or purple blend.  Pink, lightly tinted lilac or violet, paler reverse. short stems.  Strong, tea fragrance.  15 to 25 petals.  Average diameter 3.5".  Large, semi-double (9-16 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Tall, upright.  
Height of 4' 11" to 6' 7" (150 to 200 cm).  Width of 39" to 4' 11" (100 to 150 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.

Notes:
A 2003 reference mentions R. gigantea origins but this is the only reference to mention parentage.
Proceeds from the sale of 'Mrs. Fred Danks' were donated to the National Rose Society of Victoria.
The rose was introduced posthumously.
