Bred by Alister Clark (1864-1949) (Australia, before 1927).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1927 as 'Billy Boiler'.

Bloom:
Red.  Strong fragrance.  10 to 12 petals.  Double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Climbing.  

Height: 10' (305cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
There is some doubt that the rose in commerce in Australia may not be the original rose. Refer to the 1997 reference. Refer also to the 1930, 1936 and 1939 references for a difference in parentage.

The original rose was a very free seed-setter.
