Bred by Maréchal (France, 1830).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in before 1921 as 'Lamarque'.

Bloom:
White, yellow undertones, darker center.  Moderate, lemon, tea fragrance.  Average diameter 4".  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped-to-flat, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Climbing.  5 to 7 leaflets.  
Height of 8' to 15' (245 to 455 cm).  Width of 6' to 12' (185 to 365 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Prefers warmer sites.  Protect tender new spring growth from hard freezes that may cause canker, die-back and death of the plant. .
