Bred by Rev. Joseph Hardwick Pemberton (United Kingdom, 1920).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1922 as 'The General'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Scarlet to red, orange flecks.  Moderate, damask fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), globular, high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Upright.  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Hardy.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .
