APL 2011 ~ LIVIN' EASY is now on sale for $35 at SummerWinds Garden Center in NorCAL. It was deliciously full of buds!

This rose is a HUGE dissapointment for me. I had great expectations from all the hoopla! It has been in the ground 4 years and is still only 2.5 feet tall and blooms are rare. I'm going to to give it one more year in its present location and if it still doesn't take off, will try it in another spot. I'm not going to give up on it yet! Texas zone 8

----Update ---- Livin' Easy lives no more. It ironically had a hard life before it finally died! :(

That is too bad your Livin' Easy didn't grow as expected. However, remember that sometimes you just get a "dud" plant of a cultivar that is really a good rose. I have had this happen several times to me in my rose growing life. I have had bad ones that when replaced with another bush turned out to be a wonderful rose. For example, my favorite rose is the floribunda Day Breaker. I had one bush to start with and was so taken by it that I ordered five more for a special planting. In those five new roses one bush just didn't want to cooperate and was a wimpy, seldom blooming, big disappointment. The other four are marvelous bushes living up to my every expectation. I shovel pruned the offender and purchased another DB bush to take it's place for my special planting and it turned out to be another great rosebush and has made my planting of five of these roses a spectacular sight to see I am happy to report.
Don't give up on a rose cultivar if you get a bad bush. If everyone else is continuing to get marvelous results, give it another shot and try another bush to replace it. More than likely you will be happy you did!!!

Good advise! You know I think I will do just that! It is one of the roses I hoped would do well because the scent and color are to LIVE for! I'm doing a 'rose run' in October. I think I will add 'Livin' Easy' to my list. Thanks for the nudge!

Just a note: Jack Harkness commented about the varying quality of plants from year-to-year due to weather and other conditions affecting the rose "crop". We often forget that roses are grown in fields and are an agricultural crop just like wheat or corn and can be impacted in such a way that some years the yield and quality of the plants are better than other years. If you really like a rose, it is worth giving it another try.

Perfect response John! We all get bushes that can be duds or perhaps it's the spot in the yard were our pets piddle. If everyone is having great success with a rose it is probably a very good rose, but duds happen. Gardening is all about dealing with living plants and sometimes a plant just isn't going to live. To judge a variety by one sample or experiance doesn't make any sense. Livin Easy is one of the best floribundas ever introduced, plant more!

Seems likely synonymous with 'Livin' Easy'.

Thanks, Robert. I knew I recognized the name, but the db did not show the rose. I'll merge them
