Introduced in Australia by H. Kemp in 1909 as 'Madame Segond Weber'.

Bloom:

Salmon-pink. Strong fragrance. Very large, full (26-40 petals), cupped-to-flat, open bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Bushy, upright.

Growing:

Eugénie Segond-Weber, French actor (1867, Paris - 1945) Her real name was Caroline-Eugénie Weber. Daughter of Charles Weber, who was secretary to the politician Edouard Lockroy and led the 66th batillion during the Commune. Her father died in 1871. In 1883 she entered the Conservatoire and in 1885 she was engaged at the Odeon. On June 1st, 1887 she joined the Comédie-Française and her career as a tragic actress would last until 1944. She died in 1945 and was buried at Père Lachaise in Paris, not far from the great tragic actor Talma. The painter Pierre Segond-Weber is her son. (The Androom Archives)
