Are there two roses of the same name? Some seem dark red and others seem bicolored. Which is which? The lineage implies it should be a self-color, but sometimes lineages have tricks up their sleeves.

According to Hortico this is the same rose as MIDNIGHT MAGIC. My original plant from the 90s died some time ago, and when I went to reorder it a few yrs ago, they sent me LA PLATA SEQUICENTENNIAL. I emailed them to inquire about it, and was told they had changed the name, but that it was the same rose. It took a few yrs for it to bloom, but my most recent bloom is definitely looking just like my old plant's blooms did, so I think it's pretty safe to say they are the same rose. (Personally I prefer to use the original name MIDNIGHT MAGIC.)

The photos of Midnight Magic and the parentage is impeccable. Makes me wonder why this rose isn't more widely grown here in the United States than it is?? Is this a rare diamond as yet unknown to the general masses ?
