Notes:
Rosa acicularis Lindl. var. bourgeauiana Crép. is a synonym of R. acicularis subsp. sayi according to the Germplasm Resources Information Network of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. See References. Rosa acicularis Lindl. var. bourgeauiana Crép. was initially differentiated from the species by slightly larger flowers and rounder hips. Occurs in polar regions of North America in forested areas.
