Re the comments of Naasra to Martien Brand's photo:
It seems indeed so that 'Pergolèse' in many nurseries is 'Rose de Rescht'. Actually, the "correct" variety seems to be a once-blooming Gallica (see the Reference of Philipp Robinson and the photo comments of Donald). Old sources mention P. as a Gallica. The earliest mention of a Portland by Robert & Moreau is in 1899 - an error, which came to be repeated? Does anyone have other information? Also, neither L'Haÿ in 1902 nor Sangerhausen in 1936 had a P. in their collection. This seems to have been re-introduced in the 1940s in USA. What source and whose identification?
