Introduced in United Kingdom by Pennell & Sons Nursery in circa 1961 as 'Will Goodwin'.
Class:
Early Large Flowered.  
Bloom:
Lavender, yellow anthers.  6 to 8 petals.  Average diameter 7".  Single bloom form.  Early summer to early autumn.  
Habit:

Height: 8' to 10' (245 to 305cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Plant in sun or partial shade.  It blooms on the previous year's growth, so resist the urge to prune it in early spring.
