Does anybody know the provenance of the rose at Werribee? Was it from Golden Vale nursery, or the one originally from Sylvia Hannah or Nancy Rudgely?

Unfortunately Kodja Place apparently did not keep the all-important provenances but I've emailed them asking for photos for HelpMeFind. As at Feb, 2013 they were listing 'Australian Beauty' as a weeping standard.

I've asked Wal to check the records next time he's at Werrribee. It may not be soon, as he's going to be travelling.
Thanks for your help.

Wal has conveyed from their archivist, that Werribee's plant came from Golden Vale in September 2000.
I've lost the first posting; that Werribee's plant under this name, and therefore Renmark's, is consistent with Cl Cramoisi Superieur.

The Kodja Place lady is overseas at the moment. Another contact cannot find her photo of 'Australian Beauty'. However, the photo of 'Australian Beauty' from the Kodja Place book The Story of the Kodja Place Australian Rose Maze is that of a drooping bloom with a sky background, so I suspect that plant too will turn out to be 'Cramoisi Superieur Cl.' It may be some weeks before they get back to us.

Did you see Cathy Wright's photo of the Kodja Place 'Australian Beauty'?

Yes, and was grateful for it. But I need to see more of the leaves, to work out whether it's a China.

The rose we received under this name may be incorrect, as it appears to be a climbing China.

What is the state provenance of this one Margaret. It looks like a rose I saw in Queensland.
Another double check is that the original 'Australian Beauty' was highly perfumed.
Chinas were not usually known to have great fragrance.

It came from the Vic State Rose Garden - they think its provenance was Victoria but are going to check for me.

Thanks Patricia. I contacted Werribee Park who have since replied informing me I can obtain cuttings from their plant in June... excited about this actually!!! Interested to know whether it takes after its Tea parent ("Adam") or its HP parent... am hoping the former :)
