I just bought my first home and inherited a Robin Hood Rose. It is mid-November and I would like to know how to care for the plant through the winter and when would be the best time to move it. I have done some research and know that it will out grow it's current location. Any help would be very welcomed. Jen in Southern Maine.

If you mound up 12 inches thick of soil all around the base of this rose, it will protect it through the winter as it is a very hardy rose. The best time to replant the rose is in the early spring when it hasn't leafed out yet. When you are ready to move it, cut the plant back by a half as you can't help damaging the feeder roots when you dig it up and so the roots won't be able to support a big plant. It takes about 6 weeks for new ones to grow. Don't forget to keep it well watered because of the damaged roots.
