2012 June 8th, Oktyabrsky, Udmurtia [Октябрьский Удмуртия], Russia. 4 photographs taken by a friend. They appear to be of two species or two variants of one species. Information about this from anyone better-informed would be most welcome. He says that every year it is a very onerous job rooting out these roses that threaten to take over his kitchen garden. There, it is known as Шиповник [Shipovnik] which according to Wikipedia is a general term meaning 'Briar'. He mentioned the high nutritional value of the hips.
