Farbenvererbung bei Rosa moyesii
Rosa moyesii scheint die grellrote Farbe nur durch die Eizelle zu vererben und nicht durch das Pollen (S. G. A. Doorenbos, Niederlande).

Color inheritance at Rosa moyesii
Rosa moyesii appears to transmit the bright red color only through the ovum and not by the pollen (S. G. A. Doorenbos, The Netherlands).

The Reverend Moyes' first name was James, and he was at the China Inland Mission in what is now K'ang-Ting, Sichuan. Herbaria collection points for R. moyesii center on K'ang-Ting but range northeast to the village of Wenchuan and southwest to the mountains of Yunnan Provence (GBIF database), and are all above 6,000 feet with a few as high as 13,000 feet.

The Reverend Moyes is less known than his wife, see

Info says "Origin: Discovered (1903) by E.H. Wilson. " however it was infact brought to Europe in 1890 by the british missionary J Moyes who sent seeds to Louis L. Vilmorin and it was introduced as a garden plant in 1894.. Wilson just descripted it in 1903.

We believe that E.H. Wilson was actually in China visiting Reverend Moyes. The connection Moyes-Vilmorin is found on a Swedish website. Do you know of any references in literature?
