Notes:
The seedling which was introduced by Percy Wright as 'Seager Wheeler' was grown by Seager Wheeler from open-pollinated Rosa spinosissima altaica seeds collected at the Morden Agriculture Canada Research Station. Wheeler selected this seedling from the group of seedlings and sent it to Percy Wright.

A similar account is given by another Prairie rosarian, Brian Porter, who says that S. Wheeler sent the plant to P. Wright when Wheeler moved to BC in 1947.

The pollen parent of 'Seager Wheeler' may be 'Betty Bland'. 'Betty Bland' was growing near the Rosa spinosissima altaica at the Morden Agriculture Canada Research Station. (This information is from notes that Percy Wright made about 'Seager Wheeler'.)

'Seager Wheeler' is mentioned in Roscoe A. Fillmore's Roses for Canadian Gardens (Ryerson, 1959), and is the subject of an article by Arnold Pittao in Roses-Canada, Issue No. 17, March 2005.
