Discovered by Joyce Demits (United States, before 1993).

Class:

Found Rose, Climber, Hybrid Moschata, Large-Flowered Climber.

Bloom:

White or white blend. Fragrant stamens. Strong, clove, sweet fragrance. up to 5 petals. Average diameter 2". Medium, single (4-8 petals), cluster-flowered bloom form. Prolific, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Small, long, pointed buds.

Habit:

Tall, armed with thorns / prickles, climbing. Medium, matte, medium green foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 11. Very hardy. very vigorous. can be trained as a climber. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Can be pruned to maintain a shorter habit. Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy. Prune dead wood.

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:

The story of this rose's discovery in Jamestown, California, USA may be apocryphal. This is not uncommon. Specifics of "Found" rose discovery sites are often disguised to protect mother plants, and sometimes the privacy of property owners.

There is reasonably good evidence that this rose and "Secret Garden Noisette" were actually found in another Gold Rush Country location, in a private garden. Is that the "secret?" Maybe.

It is believed that both the garden and the mother plants are now gone.
