'Bifera'. Dickerson lists this under Damask Perpetuals. A great deal of information citing many sources of the past. One of them Les Roses, by Jamain and Forney (1873) says (in part): "The 'Quatre-Saisons' rose is the most fragrant of all roses, and is much besought for its perfume; but its name is unjustified, as it is not very remontant; pretty hardy, it nevertheless suffers in the coldest winters." There are also detailed instructions to encourage the plant to bloom four times a year.

(R. x damascena bifera) ('Quatre Saisons', 'Autumn Damask') Virgil described it (c. 30 BC) as the 'twice blooming rose of Paestum', and it has long been revered as the most sweetly scented of all the roses... pale pink, loosely double, fragrant, set against greyish foliage. It grows to a sprawly shrub up to 4 ft.
