Origin:

Discovered by Ernest François Pissard (aka Pissart) (France, 1879).

Class:

Hybrid Moschata.

Bloom:

White. Moderate fragrance. Large, single (4-8 petals) bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.

Habit:

Armed with thorns / prickles, climbing.

Height: up to 20' (up to 610cm).

Rosa pissartii Carrière. Rev. Hort., [sér.6], 1880: 314, f.62,63.
Found in Iran by Pissart (1879), decribed and named R. pissarti by Carriere, France (1880). Later described as R. moschata var. by Christ in 1887. The rose distributed by the english nursery Paul & Son as 'Pissardii' and now in commerce as 'Nastarana' is not this rose. 'Nastarana' is cluster-flowered while R. moschata var. Christ = R. pissarti Carr. has solitary flowers emitting directly from the cane and arranged in a spiral form - see Photos.
