As I wrote earlier: This rose has nodding heads. See recent photo of Quail Haven Farm:
It possibly has to be grown and trained as a climber, to really enjoy it's flowers.

Despite the diappointing habit, this rose (as most Austins) sets easily hips and 3 seeds germinated. Maybe some improvement?
...We'll see.

I have to agree with other postings. This rose has been a disappointment. I just love the shape and petal count on this rose. The rose took a first place in a rose show displayed floating in a bowl, so it does look wonderful off the bush. BUT, the stems are so weak the roses are almost always bowed down. I planted this rose against a fence, with a decorative trellis in front of the fence. This still does not help those canes that arch away from the fence and those that are more than 1/2 foot in length. Since someone mentioned they do get stronger with age, I am going to give it one more year. When it is in bloom it is spectacular. Just hope it does not rain during that timeframe. I will be shovel pruning the bush during the fall of 2014 if it does not improve its habits.
