Despite the diappointing habit, this rose (as most Austins) sets easily hips and 3 seeds germinated. Maybe some improvement?
...We'll see.

I have to agree with other postings. This rose has been a disappointment. I just love the shape and petal count on this rose. The rose took a first place in a rose show displayed floating in a bowl, so it does look wonderful off the bush. BUT, the stems are so weak the roses are almost always bowed down. I planted this rose against a fence, with a decorative trellis in front of the fence. This still does not help those canes that arch away from the fence and those that are more than 1/2 foot in length. Since someone mentioned they do get stronger with age, I am going to give it one more year. When it is in bloom it is spectacular. Just hope it does not rain during that timeframe. I will be shovel pruning the bush during the fall of 2014 if it does not improve its habits.

This rose balls very bad, does not only have weak necks, it has very weak stems!
So after the rains the balled flowers ly muddy on the ground and the buds are papery and brown from the outside, so they don't open correctly.
Until now a very disappointing Austin!
A good point is, that it survived the last winter very well.
I cannot imagine how this rose is going to reach the described height, having those weak canes.
I will give it another year (the next) to prove itself.
Take a look at the photo of seatdaddy too!

The canes do get stronger with age, but I still moved mine to be a climber. It is an excellent flexible climber. I would only sell it as that, myself.

The repeat bloom, bloom quantity, and fragrance really are great. It's so pretty, too. I think it will always have nodding flowers, but now that mine are at eye height, it's beautiful, lol :) Not so much when lying in the dirt!

Mine balled so badly when it was really young, but the petal substance is much better when it's older. The blooms are bigger and better formed, too. It does look kind of ratty as a young plant, imho.

Thank You very much for this reaction!
I will give it support or replace it by a more upright growing rose. This-one is located at the back of the rosebed, due to the supposed to reach height.
