The current 2011 J&P catalog lists this rose as having 3 inch blooms, which is consistent with my plant. They're certainly not 5 inches across, as shown on the description page here.

My flowers on Beauty Within/Champagne are more in the style and form of a floribunda as well. Even when I bought it as BW and it started blooming I wasn't so sure I got the right rose even though it was yellow because the blooms just didn't look like a HT.
I am really sick and tired of J&P doing this name changing thing that just confuses everyone that buys roses from them or any vendor who gets roses from them. This will keep people confused for years to come.
This rose, by whatever name, has not impressed me yet. It's not real vigorous, blooms are scarce and lack form and fragrance, and it tends to get a little BS even with spraying it. Hopefully as it continues to grow it will improve. I still have it in a container as is my norm for new roses. 2011 will just be its' second year, so I won't be too critical of it yet. I usually give a rose at least 3 years before I make my final decision on whether or not it is worthy of keeping or not.

Interesting, John. I noted when I was pruning it that this one had quite severe blackspot, even here in SoCal, where we don't really get much blackspot. I would not recommend this rose, either, based on my own experience with it.

My bush didn't get severe blackspot, but definitely did get a light case of it even with me spraying. If I didn't spray it at all it might just get severe. But, like you, it just doesn't impress me enough to really recommend it to others for many reasons besides the blackspot issue. The BS issue is kind of like icing on the cake as far as I am concerned.

I got rid of it. No redeeming features, as far as I could see. And I notice now that even J & P has deleted it from their new catalog for 2012. That should be a hint!

My Beauty Within/Champagne has really started to grow and bloom and is not showing any signs of disease at all with my normal spray program even though my spraying has not been very consistant this year. The blooms are a nice bright yellow and large for a floribunda and have pretty enough form that you know it is a rose, so I think at least for now I will keep mine. Also, it overwintered very well in it's pot this past winter--it's first for me--and started growing vigorously right out of the gate. As well, we have had weeks of severely high temps and little rain and it is getting through it with little to no problems. I water about three times per week when the temps are in the high 90's and low 100's like it has been here for the last three weeks so the potted roses need LOTS of water to keep going.

Correction: It's not a hybrid tea - it's a floribunda. Here's the J&P website info:
Rosa JACjesete (PPAF) /Rose,Yellow /Ovoid,Pointed buds / Blooms 3" / 15 petals / Dark Green,Glossy foliage / Moderate,Spicy fragrance / Full Sun / Height: 3 ft - 4 ft

Thank YOU for keeping up with this stuff. The code name also appears to be misspelled though. Should be JACjesete.

Hmmm -- the new 2011 J&P catalog with this rose in it went back to the codename JACjeste. So they've used both in their catalogs now -- JACjesete and JACjeste. Probably HMF should list them both. I don't know which is the misprint now.

Darn. Both names are now in HMF and it will probably take years to sort out.
