John Nieuwesteeg included “Miss Madden’s Climber” in his Connoisseur’s Collection of roses in 2007. He says he obtained the rose from a gardening friend who had it growing in her garden, and who had in turn obtained it from the Madden’s property in Healesville, almost opposite the Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary. John’s friend had known Miss Alison Madden, who had a connection to Alister Clark. According to John , the rose has all the characteristics of a Clark rose, and it is very similar to ‘Cicely O’Rorke’ indeed both roses could have come from the same batch of seedlings. He is 99% certain that "Miss Madden’s Climber" is a Clark rose. Miss Madden was one of a group of keen gardening people in the Healesville area. John says it is not surprising that Clark roses have been found in diverse places, as Alister Clark gave out his seedling roses very freely, often to country people with property, like himself.
