'77-07-12' rose Description

Bloom:
Cherry-red, violet-red blending, ages to violet-red . Mild fragrance. 50 to 80 petals. Average diameter 3.5". Medium-large, very full (41+ petals), cupped, old-fashioned bloom form. Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom. Medium, rounded buds.
Habit:
Medium, armed with thorns / prickles, well-branched. Medium, semi-glossy, dark green, leathery foliage.
Height: 4' (120cm). Width: 5' (150cm).
Growing:
Very hardy. vigorous. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.
Breeder's notes:
As a seedling of L83 I expect this to have exceptionally good Winter hardiness, perhaps Zone 4 or colder. Presumed to be a tetraploid, as both of its parents are. Current evaluation status, as of October 2014: the plant is shapely, vigorous and healthy
Update November 2022: all efforts to propagate this selection have failed completely. No matter what I try, I cannot get cuttings of it to root. I have also attempted to bud it to understock, but to date none of the buds have broken growth. Such a shame, to have such a great variety end up being so difficult to propagate. I will probably attempt some other methods before giving up entirely.
