This plant was my mother's and has been in this garden more than 30 years. It is a very winter hardy plant as mother never did any type of winter protection. It is always the first plant in the garden to get black spot and usually defoliates completely. However, it continues to bloom all season long regardless. Blooms are large, usually in sprays of 2 or 3 and have a strong fragrance.
