The 3rd flower of my new Fragrant Cloud (Genova, Italy, May 2009)...
This rose is just wonderful. Nice buds, magnificent when fully opened (reminiscent of 'Peace')... and an extremely heavy, spiced damask fragrance which is true heaven, completely unexpected in a rose of this colour and with so thick petal texture...
The colour itself is beautiful: it doesn't have, at least for now, so much orange overcast... is just an almost pure, bright geranium/coral red, without any hint of harshness anyway. It begins to fade after two days (and also fragrance does), but in a very natural, pleasant way which I personally find attractive. Very hot sun can slightly harm fading flowers.
For now, one of my two plants had only very little traces of mildew on a couple leaves, easily and readily stopped with some spray.
It is very, very difficult to catch the true color in a photo, and more so in full sun. This is the best I managed to do with the partially opened bud. ;-)
