Arvid`s garden, Lista, southwestern coast of Norway, July 2009.. Many years ago these two plants were on sale in a nursery in Oslo long gone now. They were sold in little cardboard boxes for just a few "kroner" each. They looked quite miserable poor things, and I didn`t leave them much chance, never thinking they would survive the transportation from Oslo to Lista. However, as soon as they found their place at my doorstep, they discovered that there would be a life for them after all; making me very happy too in the process. Snuggling against my entrance stairs they seem to enjoy life so much that I have had to tie some of the canes to supporting sticks to be able to get in and out of the house. These little darlings are a bit late in flowering which is perfect as they are in full flush when many of my other roses take a break. The only negative thing to be said about these roses is that they for some reason or other hang on to their withered petals without quite wanting to let them go; something I have forgiven them long time ago.The red roses in the background belong to "Mainaufeuer". The blue flowers are lavenders.
