Introduced as far back as 1864 it still remains unequalled in colour and popularity. As a climbing rose for covering the roof of a conservatory it is most useful and attractive, but, having a delicate constitution it requires a south or south-west wall when grown in the open. Should be sparingly pruned, unless required for exhibition purposes.
