Another poster said on the comments page for this rose, that Himmelsauge of commerce = Russelliana. That multiflora-style fringe on those stipules does look just like Russelliana's and quite unlike a rugosa-setigera cross.

I no longer grow Himmelsauge (I just got around to editing a number of photos taken last year). I frankly hadn't seen the comments, but after reading your message I had a look at Russelliana and have to say that it looks suspiciously similar to me. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
