I planted this thing myself in 2011 or 2012. To my embarrassment I have no idea what it's called, but it's an early eyecatcher in our backyard each year. Around are a hawthorn, a sallow, a hazel, a rowan, and a Kerria as well as some species roses as parts of our not-so-formal hedge. PS: So I dug up the old bills and it turns out it's a Van Houtte Spiraea. Recommended!
