Firefighter  rose photo courtesy of member StrawChicago Alkaline clay 5a
Photo Id: 283871

Own-root Firefighter in 2nd year early spring, tall and very healthy in my alkaline clay (pH 7.7). The shorter bush in the background is own-root Crimson Glory. Firefighter has a higher demand for calcium due to its many blooms and fast-repeat. If calcium is not adequate, cane-borers invade its stems. Attract Japanese Beetles more than Austin roses. Fertilized with alfalfa.
