I grow over 350 different roses (and that number is always growing!) in my 1-acre yard. I am always building new garden beds but am running out of room! I love all roses, and have representatives
from every class of rose that will survive my zone 4 winters. I grow Albas, Damasks, Mosses , Hybrid Perpetuals, Gallicas, Species, Centifolias, Rugosas, Scotch roses, Portlands, Floribundas, Old & Modern Shrub roses, Hybrid Teas, Ramblers, Climbers, and Miniatures. They each have their own special beauty but the Old Roses were my first loves and will
always be dearest to my heart. My most loved are the "found" or rescued roses.
My husband and I have acquired many of our beloved roses through our searching out old cemeteries and taking cuttings or seeds and propagating them. We make sure to give the "mother" plants lots of
TLC and return every year to check on her welfare so that she will continue to prosper. Our mission
is to save as many of these venerable survivors so that they are not lost to neglect and the ravages of time.
I also grow hundreds of lilies, perennials, clematis, spring-flowering bulbs, and have 2 water gardens. But roses will always be my true loves!
