This photo ,taken in July 2009. shows "New Dawn" with "Westerland" against the backdrop of the west wall of my house. The dead tree twigs, being the result of the strong and salty northwest winds. belong to an apricot tree which is still alive by the way, although it has never sported any fruit. I have not cut down the withered twigs as I imagine they help shield the roses a bit against these mentioned winds..

Photo taken July 2009. Part of my garden with my house as a backdrop. Roses seen in the photo are "New Dawn, Westerland,Jacques Cartier, Dortmund, Cornelia, Rose du Roi Rose de Rescht and Yolande d`Arragon. The perennials are Monk`s Hood and Lysimachia.

Overlooking the ramblers : "Hybrida", "Brenda Colvin", "Polstjaernan", "Rosa Arvensis Splendens", a few flowers of "Rote Max Graf" (bottom middle) and "Veilchenblau" (bottom right). The wine red clematis seen among the roses is the Hybrid Viticella "Julia Correvon". Photo taken in July 2009.

The front of my house with roses taken in July 2009. "Felicia" is in full flush. The salmon pink rose is "Rosenresli" which is a bit difficult to handle as she seemis to have a distinct wish to become a climber.Some flowers of "Coral Dawn" and "Louise Odier" are also visible. The two "Fairies" at each side of the entrance have just started to bloom. The red roses bottom right are of "The Dirigent". The blue flowers are lavenders.

I plead guilty to being an outdoor freak. Living in Norway we are "suffering" indoor confinement for months on end during the cold and dark winter season. So you may well understand why the summer with the long lasting daylight is calling me outside. Even with the daylight gone I am still reluctant to move inside. Spending part of the night too, with a candlelit lantern on my patio is among my favourite pastimes, weather permitting. You may be able to detect the following roses in the photo: "Cornelia", "Jacques Cartier" "Rose the
Rescht" and perhaps "Salet" , "New Dawn" and "Dortmund"
